At 11 a.m. on November 11, 1918, an armistice brought the fighting of the First World War to a halt. The loss and suffering were so great that people hoped it would be “the war to end all wars.”
On Remembrance Day, we honour those who served and those who lost their lives. We give thanks for the sacrifices made by military personnel and their families, and remember all whose lives have been changed by war.
We also reflect on our own responsibility to build peace, care for one another, and find the courage to stand up against cruelty and injustice.
Join us on Sunday Nov 8 for our annual Remembrance Day service as we remember, give thanks, and renew our commitment to peace.
