Humans have a tendency to sort and label. When we are a part of a group we sometimes separate ourselves from others who aren't part of our "in" crowd:, then we treat those we've labelled "other" differently. Sometimes we betray our values - we change who we are and how we behave, just so we can fit in.
What if we can belong to ourselves and stand for our values of equality, fairness and compassion, even if those values differ from the group's values?
Can we be brave enough to be ourselves AND remain connected with others who see things differently? Let's be willing to take a stand for equality, and ensure that we treat every person with dignity.
Inspired by the book "Braving the Wilderness" by Brene Brown, Rev. Rhona Segarra explores these ideas.
