The holiday season is hard for people who are hurting.
For some people, the Christmas season is not “the most wonderful time of the year”.
The joy and gaiety of the festive season may be marred by feelings of sadness, grief and loss.
To acknowledge and honour these human emotions, Unity of New Westminster is offering a “Blue Christmas” service on Thursday December 12 at 7:30 pm.
The service offers a sacred space for those who are mourning a loss - the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a career - someone or something we held dear.
It is for those who feel sad or lonely during this time when everyone else seems to be celebrating.
It is also for those who want to support those who are hurting.
During the service we light candles, sing gentle music. We honour those we loved and lost, we honour our lost dreams, we honour ourselves. We feel both grief and gratitude for our experiences.
